Pharka urges to set up Film & Animation Institute in HP

New Delhi, Dec 9 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary V C Pharka today urged the Centre to set up a Film and Animation Institute in the state for promotion of film activities and said the state government would provide land for the purpose.
Speaking in the two-day 28th State Information Ministers' Conference (SIMCON) held at Vigyan Bhavan here, Mr Pharka suggested that there should be an MoU between the Centre and state governments for organising film festivals to ensure proper coordination of various departments and organisations involved in the process.
He also requested the Information and Broadcasting Ministry to consider providing assistance to the state on the lines of the assistance provided to special category states for promotion of film activities.
The Chief Secretary said a draft film policy was under the active consideration of the government and Information and Public Relations department has been notified as the nodal department or agency and Director IPR as State Nodal Officer to coordinate all necessary work for facilitating film making including clearance.
He urged the Ministry for considering preparation of training modules to make various field level officers and stakeholders aware about provisions of Cable TV Act, Cinematograph Act and other relevant Acts so that these could be implemented effectively across the state.
Mr Pharka also suggested that these could also be incorporated in the training programmes conducted by HIPA besides syllabus of departmental examinations of concerned officers categories to provide them knowledge as well as expertise of the Acts for implementing them in right perspective.
Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Ajay Mittal briefed about the objectives of the two-day conference. Television and radio were very effective medium of entertainment as well as education and added that the Information and Broadcasting activities could be strengthened with the cooperation and coordination of the centre and state government departments.
Various issues related to film sector, broadcasting, information etc were discussed with the Secretaries of Information and Public Relations departments of various states on the first day of the conference.
