Phagwara Police registers case against fake travel agents cum gangsters

Phagwara, Sept 21 (UNI) On a complaint lodged by Phagwara Village Chachoki resident Sandeep Singh the Sadar police Phagwara have registered case under section 420/406/342/365/384/506 IPC against fake travel agents cum gangsters identified as Lakhwinder Singh resident of Amritsar, Madam Aman resident of Sirhind, and Suresh Kumar resident of Maharashtra on the charges of duping the complainant for more than Rs 17 lakhs and some foreign currency in the pretext of sending Sandeep’s brother Jaspreet to Canada.
Investigating Officer Sub Inspector Baljinder Singh while giving details told this correspondent here on Friday evening that the accused Madam came in the contacts of the complainant and a deal of Rs 17 lakhs was finalised in the month of August this year, with advance money of Rs 2.60,000/- in first instalment and Rs Two lakhs in second and Rs Two Lac in third instalment.
The Complainant told the police that his brother Jaspreet was sent to Nepal where he was kept hostage at pistol point and was forced to talk with them on Phone to urge them to give them more money. Jaspreet was tied with ropes and a tape was pasted on his mouth in a dark room. The Complainant said then they transferred Rs 10 Lac to the bank accounts of the accused.
