Agartala, Jun 10 (UNI) Tripura government has decided to extend emergency medical care to the villagers of residing in the corner of Tripura-Mizoram-Bangladesh border following sudden outbreak of malaria and vector borne diseases in past few days.
According to the local sources, as many as 27 cases were reported to various health clinics in Bhandarima, Shantipur and Gachhirampara of Kanchanpur under North Tripura district and another about 34 people were detected Plasmodium Falciparum (PF) malaria in six villages of the area where ASHA workers have been working.
Spread of malaria and other vector borne diseases in hilly parts of Tripura have been a common phenomenon but in last few years due to precautions from the health department, the situation was not escalated much, sources said, adding, “This year due to general elections the administration was otherwise busy and could not give much attention and moreover, Tripura experienced more pre-monsoon shower this year that further aggravated the situation.”
