Periyar Dravidar volunteers arrested for holding agitation

Puducherry, Oct 5 (UNI) Over 100 volunteers of the Periyar Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam were arrested when they organised an agitation here to condemn the Centre which failed to constitute the Cauvery Management Board on the directions of the Supreme Court.
The volunteers who gathered near the Periyar statue here shouted slogans against the central government and also the Karnataka government for the attack on Tamils in Karnataka in the Cauvery water issue.
During the agitation, they attempted to burn the photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi which was thwarted by the police which led to an altercation between them. Following this, the police arrested them.
