Tonk, Nov 19 (UNI) Rajasthan Congress chief and probable chief ministerial candidate Sachin Pilot on Monday expressed confidence that the people will vote for his party in the December 7 Assembly polls.
Talking to reporters here ahead of filing his nomination paper, Mr Pilot said, “We have the blessings of people and they will shower it in the form of votes on December 7.”
The BJP has fielded PWD Minister Yunus Khan from the same seat, replacing the sitting legislator Ajay Singh Mehta. He was changed at the 11th hour.
Mr Khan is the lone Muslim candidate from the ruling party, also considered to be number one minister in Vasundhara Raje cabinet.
On being asked about his connection with Tonk, the Congress leader said, “I have a deep connection and concern not only with Tonk but with the entire state.”
He also accused the Vasundhara Raje government of taking the state backward.
“The Chief Minister has not even given her report card,” Mr Pilot, who is contesting for the first time for state Assembly, said .
He was a Member of Parliament twice. In 2004, he emerged victorious from Dausa parliamentary seat and then from Ajmer in 2009.
In 2014, he lost the Ajmer seat as the country was taken over by the BJP wave.
