People blocked NH demanding water in Tripura district

Ambassa (Tripura), Mar 21 (UNI) At least for five hours vehicular movement has stranded on the National Highway 208 as the irked villagers have blocked the road demanding regular supply of potable water at Anandabazar village in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here today.
The water supply in the area has long been at stake as the pump operator remains drunken and unable to run the machinery almost throughout the day. The villagers have knocked the concerned panchayat and the department several times without result. And three hundred villagers have remained in distress for quite a long time.
As a result the villagers have blocked the road this morning. Vehicles have stranded on both the sides and police and other officials have rushed to the spot. After a prolonged discussion, the villagers have withdrawn the blockade.
