Peasant leader Akhil Gogoi remanded to police custody

Guwahati, Oct 3 (UNI) A local court today remanded peasant leader Akhil Gogoi who was arrested on charges of `inciting protests' in an eviction drive to police custody for 24 hours.
Three cases were registered against Mr Gogoi under different sections of Indian Penal Code.
The Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity leader was arrested yesterday for "inciting protests and rioting" during the recent evicting drive launched at three villages near famed Kaziranga National Park.
