Patna HC acquits former MLA Anant Singh in firearms recovery case

Patna, Aug 14 (UNI) Patna High Court on Wednesday acquitted former MLA Anant Singh in connection with recovery of firearms from his official residence in Patna.
Justice Chandra Shekhar Jha after hearing a petition of Singh, challenging the verdict of special court for MPs and MLAs, which had awarded him 10 years of imprisonment in the case, found that evidence produced against the convict was not sufficient.
Due to lack of evidence produced by prosecution in the trial court against Singh, Justice Jha quashed the conviction and ordered for his release from the jail if not required to be behind the bars in any other case.
