Parrikar opens gate for middlemen in defence deals

New Delhi, Jun 14 (UNI) In a path-breaking move, the Defence Ministry headed by Mr Manohar Parrikar has allowed the role for defence agents, loosely called middlemen, in procurement process under well defined terms and conditions.
The chapter on the role of defence agents has not only been added to the defence procurement procedure but also been put in public domain.
The introduction of defence agents for the sensitive defence deals has come at a time when the role of the middlemen in the scam-tainted AgustaWestland deal was still far from being over in the public discourse.
