Parl panel raps govt for not spending on Himalayan studies

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) A Department related Parliamentary Standing Committee has rapped the government for not spending “even a single penny” up to January 31, 2017, under the National Mission on Himalayan Studies (NMHS) which aims at conservation of Himalayan ecosystem and sustainable development of the region.
The panel further said that there has not been any physical progress in the scheme in 2016-17.
It has asked the government to apprise it of the role and opinion of the expert scientific and technical advisory group which was supposed to periodically review the performance of the mission activities in this matter.
