Parameshwara slams CJI shoe-gate

Bengaluru, Oct 7 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara today condemned the incident in which a lawyer attempted to throw a shoe at Chief Justice of India (CJI) B R Gavai during a Supreme Court's session yesterday, calling it "not just an affront to an individual but to the judiciary and the Constitution itself."
The assailant, 71-year-old advocate Rakesh Kishore, reportedly shouted slogans against the perceived insult to 'Sanatan Dharma' before the act. The Bar Council of India has suspended Kishore and initiated disciplinary proceedings.
Dr Parameshwara emphasised the seriousness of the attack, saying, "Immediate legal action must be taken against the unruly lawyer who sought to insult both the Chief Justice and the judiciary." He also highlighted that CJI Gavai, a member of the Dalit community, has risen to the highest echelons of the judiciary through merit and perseverance.
