Param Bir moves court for cancellation of non-bailable warrants

Param Bir moves court for cancellation of non-bailable warrants

Mumbai, Nov 26 (UNI) Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has moved a local magisterial court seeking cancellation of non-bailable warrants issued against him and an order terming him a 'proclaimed offender'.
Singh moved the magistrate's court after resurfacing on Thursday, when he also appeared before the Crime Branch for questioning.
In his plea, Singh contended that the notice was pasted outside his residence and he was not physically served the notice.
It was also submitted that as per the direction of the apex court he has appeared before the investigation agency hence the order of declaring him proclaimed offender does not stand true.
Recently a non-bailable warrant was issued against him and others in an extortion case filed by builder-cum-hotelier Bimal Agrawal.
Along with Param Bir Singh, the complain also named dismissed police officer Sachin Vaze, and four others- Sumit Singh alias Chintu, Alpesh Patel, Vinay Singh alias Bablu, and Riyaz Bhati.
Singh on Thursday was questioned by investigating authorities for six hours in the alleged extortion case. The investigating agency served a notice to Singh stating he would have to appear before the investigators whenever needed.
