Pannu urges agriculture dept officials to educate farmers against excessive use of urea on wheat crop

Moga, Dec 14 (UNI) Punjab agriculture department Secretary Kahan Singh Pannu while addressing a meeting on Friday of chief agriculture officers of all district and agro scientists of respective districts urged the officers to educate farmers against excessive use of urea in wheat crop for better yield.
Pannu was addressing the officers on Friday thought video conferencing and asked them to educate the farmers on using only two bags (45 Kg each) of urea in one acre of wheat crop. Pannu also advised that urea must be applied within 55 days of sowing of wheat as otherwise, the chances of pest attack would increase resulting lose of crop yield .
He also urged agro scientists to hold meetings of farmers even at block level for the next few days and educate them on using the fertilizers judiciously in wheat to cut down the input cost. While claiming that their was absolutely no shortage of urea in the state.
