Pandals open, Durga puja fervor grips Tripura

Agartala, Sept 30 (UNI) Festive fervor grips the city as puja revelers throng the street on Thursday night – two days ahead of the beginning of Durga puja after the formal opening of major pandals by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha.
The major shops were open till late at night and re-opened early in the morning to facilitate puja shopping at the last moment. Tripura police had to increase their deployment from Thursday evening with the crowd in the puja pandals and in the shopping areas.
According to Tripura Merchant Association, after a break of two years due to Covid, this time a large number of people came to Agartala for shopping from North and South Tripura districts rushed to Agartala, which increased the business manifolds and crowd in the city as well.
