Panchayat oath-taking concluded amidst uproar and protest by BJP factions

Ambassa (Tripura), Aug 18 (UNI) Oath-taking of gram panchayats all occupied uncontested by BJP concluded amidst uproar and protest by BJP factions in skeletal cases in three blocks in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here today.
In the three-tier panchayat election, BJP became victorious in all 41-gram panchayats. The election was held only in three seats among them. For the new bodies of gram panchayats, 16th, 17th and 18th of August were scheduled for oath-taking.
In 39 panchayats the programme was concluded peacefully. The wraths and anger of the unhappy factions not being able to get into position could be subsided so far. But in two panchayats one each in Ambassa and Salema blocks, the anguish erupted nastily. In Lalchari panchayat in Ambassa, the party workers and villagers denied accepting one Pranab Debnath set by party-state leadership as headman.
