Panaji, Feb 2 (UNI) Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that Panaji constituency is more presitigous for the residents of Panaji, than him. Responding to questions during a press conference held at party headquarters in the city, he said, 'It is prestigious to me, but it is more prestigious for Panajikars (residents of Panaji) to ensure that right person is elected.' Mr Parrikar, who has represented Panaji for close to two decades, had to resign after his elevation as Defence Minister after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power at the Centre in 2014. After his resignation, Siddharth Kuncalienkar was elected MLA in a by-election. This time also, BJP has fielded Mr Kuncalienkar from Panaji seat. Besides Mr Kuncalienkar, other candidates contesting elections in Panaji seat are Dominic Savio Fernandes (NCP), Atanasio Monserrate (UGP), Ketan Prabhu Bhatikar (GSM), Valmiki Naik (AAP) and two independents Dilip Ghadi and Parshuram Dodamani.
