Palghar ZP, Panchayat Samiti members disqualified

Palghar, Mar 6 (UNI) In keeping with the recent orders of the Supreme Court, collector Dr Manik Gursal on Saturday disqualified 15 members of the Palghar Zilla Parishad and 14 of Panchayat Samiti.
The collector stated in his order that these seats which were hitherto reserved for OBCs, have now been made general as per the orders of the SC.
The SC decided on a petition, which stated that reservation for OBCs and other classes was more than 50 per cent of the total seats, and hence passed the order.
