Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif reviews recs for trade reforms in meeting with federal cabinet

Islamabad, Dec 5 (UNI) Chairing a meeting with the Federal Cabinet in capital city for reviewing recommendations from the sub-working group on Customs duty and wider trade reforms, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that his cabinet was taking measures on priority with an aim to reduce production costs across all industries in a bid to strengthen the country's extremely weak economic fabric and bolster its deteriorating trade competitiveness.
Federal ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Musadik Malik, Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Azhar Bilal Kayani, Haroon Akhtar, as well as the national coordinator of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), senior officials, and representatives from the business community attended the meeting.
Sharif said that the National Tariff Policy approved by the government represented a "revolutionary step" toward supporting domestic manufacturing and enabling businesses to compete more effectively in local and international markets.
