Islamabad, Jul 6 (UNI) Special Assistant to Pakistani Prime Minister on Health Zafar Mirza was on Monday tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
" I have tested positive for COVID-19. Under med advice I have isolated myself at home & taking all precautions. I have mild symptoms. Please keep me in your kind prayers. Colleagues, keep up the good work! You are making a big difference & I am proud of you", Mr Mirza apprised through a tweet.
Mirza is the latest political figure who has been tested positive of the disease in Pakistan. Earlier on Friday, the country's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi confirmed that he had been tested positive for COVID-19 and quarantined himself at home.
According to the data released by the health ministry on Monday, 231,818 confirmed cases have been reported in the country and 131,649 recovered while 4762 died of it.
A drop in new cases is being currently witnessed owing to the decrease in the number of daily conducted tests and the government's policy of imposing smart lockdowns in the areas which are acting as hotspots of the disease across the country.
