Pakistan’s military: fire brigade or arsonist in Afghanistan?

Washington, Dec 15 (UNI) The Pakistani Army is the arsonist in Afghanistan which wants to be part of the fire brigade and that complicates the US' South Asia policy, Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s former Ambassador to the US, has said.
“Pakistan was an ally of convenience during the Cold War, but Pakistan’s main objective, which is to compete with India, has never been an American objective. Therefore, American and Pakistani interests in the region don’t really coincide,” Haqqani, currently a senior fellow and director for South and Central Asia at the Hudson Institute, told security news and analysis website,The Cipher Brief Daily.
