Pakistan hell bent to revive terrorism in J&K: Lt Governor Manoj Sinha

Srinagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Pakistan was hell-bent on reviving terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir but our forces will not allow it to succeed.
Addressing the 78th Independence Day gathering at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the Lt Governor said that the neighbouring country is making all efforts to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We will never allow neighbouring countries' terror designs to succeed in Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
"Pakistan which is not in a position to provide two-time bread to their citizens has been a main den of terrorism", the Lt Governor said.
He said the administration and the security forces will never allow the neighbouring country to revive terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In recent times we have lost some good officials in the Jammu region due to terrorism”, the Lt Governor said and added, “I urge the people of Jammu to stay united with the security forces to wipe out terrorism from the region”.
The Lieutenant Governor said that security forces are committed to dismantling terrorism and terror networks from the soil of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lieutenant Governor hailed Jammu and Kashmir Police for bagging scores of gallantry medals stating that police are professionally working on multiple fronts.
He said that the administration left no stone unturned in the past five years to make Jammu and Kashmir touch new heights in development.
“The leftover sections who were deprived of their rights for the past 70 years were given due recognition. Today, SC, ST, OBC, Valmikis, PoJK-WPRs are living a dignified life with full voting rights,” he said.
He said that post the G-20 meeting in Srinagar in May 2023, the tourism influx showed a significant increase in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Last year, 2.11 Crore tourists visited J&K. This year, till June 30, over 1 Crore tourists visited J&K. I am hopeful by the year's end, there will be record tourist arrivals,” he said.
The LG said that for the first time, Amarnath cave shrine and Gurez were connected to the power grid.
He said that by the year's end, J&K Industrial policy will be renewed. “We have requested the Government of India to make the new Industrial policy more Industry friendly and more features will be added to the new policy,” he said.
The LG said that in 2019, J&K Bank was in losses and with hectic efforts, today, the institution is profit-earning.
“This institution is no longer confined to a few people but it’s a peoples’ bank now,” he added.
