Pakistan calls for enhanced int'l cooperation to combat climate change

Islamabad, Nov 8 (UNI) Romina Khurshid Alam, coordinator to the Pakistani prime minister on climate change and environmental coordination, has called for enhanced international cooperation to combat climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and building resilient infrastructure.
With the support of partner countries, Pakistan is focusing on climate change, environmental conservation, glaciological research, ecotourism and the socio-economic development of mountain communities, the official said during a roundtable discussion on Thursday.
Alam said that the country has long been grappling with climate-triggered disasters that have caused significant loss of life and property, adding that frequency and intensity of these events have increased in recent years, reminding of the severe impact of global warming and climate change on Pakistan.
