Jammu, May 22 (UNI) Giving no respite from overnight border firing, Pakistan has so far targetted more than 20 border outposts and 30 villages in Jammu and Samba sectors.
"Pakistan forces again heavily shelled forward villages in R S Pura, Arnia and adjoining Ramgarh sectors along the International Border that started on Monday evening and is still continuing," official sources here said on Tuesday.
They said that Pakistani Rangers resumed heavy mortar shelling in Arnia sector after a few hours break around 1900 hrs on Monday.
On Monday, five people, including a policeman, suffered injuries while an infant also died in Pallanwala sector.
Pakistani Rangers later also opened fronts in the adjoining Ramgarh and R S Pura sectors.
"Over 20 Border outposts and villagers of 30 border hamlets were targetted with 120 mm mortars by Pakistan forces and the frequency enhanced considerably," said a BSF official.
He said that BSF is retaliating with same calibre while no report of any casualty or fresh injury has been reported so far from the Indian side.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also visited to border areas on Monday and met with the families of border firing victims.
On May 18, a BSF jawan was martyred and four civilians were killed in the firing in Arnia and R S Pura sectors.
