Pak resorts to heavy firing, civilian, jawan injured in Poonch

Jammu, Sep 18 (UNI) A civilian and an Army jawan got injured while bovine animals and cattle were killed as Pakistan fired heavily and targeted forward posts and villages along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. "A civilian namely Mohammad Ashraf, 24, son of Gul Hussain, resident of village Behrooti got seriously injured this morning and at least three bovine animals, two cattle were killed in cross border firing in Balakot sector," official spokesman here said. He said heavy shelling was in progress from Pakistan side in Balakote, Basoni, Sandote, Baharote and others villages located close to the fence. Pakistan started firing at 0600 hrs and fired RPGs and mortars, they said, adding that own troops retaliated effectively with similar calibre weapons."The exchange of fire was still in progress," sources added. He said Pakistan fired unprovoked along the Line of Control in forward areas of Balakote Sector. The forward areas witnessed unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army since 0600 hours today where in forward posts of Pakistan fired automatics Small Arms, heavy machine gun fire, 60mm, 82mm and 120mm Motors to this side. "Own troops retaliated appropriately while one Jawan injured in the firing and was immediately shifted to military hospital," officiating PRO Defence S N Acharya said, adding that his condition was stable. The firing was continuing till the last reports came in, he added. Ceasefire violations by Pakistan Army was also continued yesterday from 1820 hours to 2330 hours at Balakote sector and from 1825 hours and from 0200 hours (midnight) onwards at Hamirpur, Mendhar areas of Poonch. Pune, April 25 (UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal(5.1°C or more) at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana. These were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.7°C was reported at Anantapur
(Rayalaseema) over the country.
