Pak offers Kulbhushan to meet wife

Pak offers Kulbhushan to meet wife

Islamabad, Nov 10 (UNI) Pakistan on Friday offered imprisoned Indian Kulbhudhan Jhadev, who is on a death row, a meeting with his wife.

The decision has been taken ‘’purely on humanitarian ground,’’ a Foreign Ministry release said here.

A Note Verbale to this effect has been sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad on Friday, it said.

Islamabad had so far been denying consular access to Jadhav sought by India.

Jadhav, a former Navy officer, was arrested in March 2016 by Pakistani agencies on charges of espionage and sabotage, which is strongly denied by India.

Pakistan accuses Jadhav of being an agent of the India’s intelligence agency RAW, and says he was picked from Balochistan where he was involved in subversive activities. India dismisses all these charges as rubbish.

India has approached the International Court of Justice to vacate the death sentence awarded to Jadhav by a Pakistan military court.
