Pak Min requests UN to remove Priyanka Chopra as Goodwill Ambassador

Pak Min requests UN to remove Priyanka Chopra as Goodwill Ambassador

Islamabad, Aug 21 (UNI) Pakistan Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari on Wednesday sent a letter to the United Nations, requesting the international peace organisation to remove Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra as their Goodwill Ambassador of Peace, for publicly 'endorsing' the Indian government's stand on Kashmir.
In a letter to UNICEF chief Henrietta Fore, the Pakistan Minister wrote, "The policy of BJP government is similar to the Nazi doctrine of ethnic cleansing, racism, fascism and genocide. Priyanka Chopra has publicly endorsed this Indian government position and also supported the nuclear threat issued to Pakistan by the Indian Defence Minister."
"Her jingoism and support for violations by the Modi government of international conventions and UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, as well as support for war, including a nuclear war, undermines the credibility of the UN position, to which she been elevated," she added.
Asserting that 'all this goes completely against the principles of peace and goodwill', Ms Mazari demanded her immediate removal, saying that the very idea of a Goodwill Ambassador for Peace becomes a mockery globally, unless she is removed immediately.
Ms Mazari also mentioned the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35 A in Jammu and Kashmir, by the Narendra Modi government. She alleged that the Modi government was denying four million Indian Muslims their citizenship in Assam, creating "detention centres akin to Nazi concentration camps".
Priyanka, who was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 2010 and 2016, was recently accused by a Pakistani girl named Ayesha Malik at a Los Angeles event, of being a 'hypocrite' and 'encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan'.
The accusation was in regard to Priyanka's tweet from February 26, a day after the Balakot air strikes in Pakistan by the Indian Air Force. Priyanka supported the move, saying, "Jai Hind!".
