Pak face setback as match delayed, Pycroft stays as referee

Dubai, Sept 17 (UNI) Pakistan faced a setback today as Andy Pycroft walked out to the middle for the toss, remaining the match referee for their Asia Cup 2025 clash against the United Arab Emirates, despite the team's earlier threats to boycott the game.
The match had already been delayed by an hour due to the standoff, highlighting the turbulence within the Pakistan camp. The toss, originally scheduled for 6 pm local time, was pushed to 7 pm, with the game now set to begin at 7.30 pm. Pakistan finally arrived at the venue at 6:29 local (2:29 GMT, 7:59 IST) after hours of uncertainty and tense negotiations between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The controversy dates back to September 14, when Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha refused to attend the post-match presentation after India reportedly declined a customary handshake. Head coach Mike Hesson criticised India's stance, and team manager Naveed Cheema filed a complaint accusing Pycroft of siding with India.
