Kargil, Oct 30 (UNI) Announcing that Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is not anti-national but against BJP policies, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday afternoon said the alliance wanted to get back within the framework of the constitution of India what has been snatched from us on August 5, 2019.
Speaking to mediapersons after meeting leaders of different political parties at Kargil, the shia dominated border town in Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh, Omar said he alongwith other leaders of PAGD parties had come here on the direction from high command to inform the local leaders the need for forming alliance against the BJP policies.
He said the PAGD delegation had a detailed meeting with Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) leaders who too are opposite against the division of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
We reiterated that abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A and division of the erstwhile state into two UTs would not be acceptable to PAGD and KDA, he said adding we want restoration of August 4, 2019 position. He said KDA was also against the division of the state.
He said PAGD was not against the country. We are against the BJP and its communal agenda. The BJP wanted to divide the people on religion and regional basis which will be foiled, he said adding BJP is spreading false allegations that PAGD is anti national, pro Pakistani and against India. We reject these allegations as we are against BJP not India, he said.
We want back everything what has been snatched from us within the Indian constitution, Omar said.
We are fighting on all fronts, including legally, politically and will raise the issue in the Parliament, he announced.
APGD, demanding restoration of pre August 5, 2019 position, is an alliance of six different parties--NC, PDP, Awami National Conference (ANC) CPI(M), Peoples Conference (PC) and Peoples Movement (PM). Dr Farooq is chairman and Mehbooba his deputy.
However, Omar had to face an unpleasant question when a reporter asked why NC is sharing power with BJP in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, the NC vice president said this has been done due to local arrangement. However, he said, we are here as representatives of PAGD and this question will be better answered by the president of the NC Dr Farooq Abdullah.
