Paddy procurement in Punjab crosses last year's status

Chandigarh, Nov 14 (UNI) With the paddy procurement by government agencies to the tune of 1,52,31,052 metric tonnes (MT) as of November 13 in the KMS 2019-20, the procurement figures superseded the paddy procurement by the government agencies on the same date last year, which was 1,49,44,231 MT.
Stating this here on Thursday, an official spokesman said on the whole the government agencies and private millers have procured 1,53,32,321 metric tonnes of paddy in Punjab till Wednesday, while payment worth Rs 23485.35 crore has been transferred to the accounts of arthias/farmers by the government, rendering MSP benefits to 10,55,840 farmers.
He said the entire procurement process is going on smoothly with 100 per cent lifting of paddy having been accomplished Fatehgarh Sahib, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa districts, as per the 72 hours lifting norm.
