Lucknow, Mar 29 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced here on Thursday that Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) will have a separate 'women company' in near future.
The CM took this resolve to reiterate his commitment towards 'women empowerment' in the state.
To take the 'drive' forward, CM Yogi honoured 147 women with Rani Lakshmi Bai bravery award for their exceptional performances in different sectors at a programme organised here at Lok Bhawan.
Mr Yogi said that initiatives have been taken to form a separate 'women company' in PAC along with formation of battalion of women constables. 'Such measures will draw better results and enhance the feeling of security among women," stated My Yogi.
The CM further said that government was encouraging women with extraordinary talents by honouring them with prizes like Rani Lakshmi Bai awards. "These women are inspiration for the society and government will reward those who will work for the society", added Mr Yogi.
Mr Yogi informed that UP government was committed for the overall development of the women and for this many schemes and projects were launched .'Also, 1090 helpline was achieving remarkable results in helping women in their issues, 'he commented.
Mr Adityanath stated that he was feeling a sense of pride by honouring such talent which comprised women from fields of education, industry, medical, sports, bravery and government and non-government sectors.
Urging village chiefs to initiate a camping against intoxication, CM Yogi said a movement against intoxication should be started as bad habits and intoxication ruins not only a person, his family but the whole society.
Hailing Centre's ‘Ujjawala Yojna’ scheme, CM Yogi said that earlier women in rural areas had to grapple with hazardous smoke during cooking with wood and charcoal but Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave them not only succour but also security and honour with free gas connections.
Underlining the necessity of gender equality in society, CM Yogi stressed that boys and girls should be treated equally. Lamenting that complaints of discrimination on gender basis come from some districts of state, Mr Yogi said that "society should assist government to deal with discrimination within it at any level."
