Over 66, 000 children administered polio drops in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Mar 12 (UNI) As many as 66398 children were administrated polio drops on the last day of three-day pulse polio campaign started by the district health department on March 10.

A team led by District Immunization officer Dr Tarsem Lal and others visited Qazi Mandi, Maqsudan and surrounding areas of Verka Milk Plant on Jalandhar-Amritsar Highway and inspected the immunization drive.

He said the health teams administrated polio drops to 36166 children in urban and 30232 in rural areas on Tuesday.

He said transit teams covered Bus Stand, Railway Station and special teams focused on high-risk areas including brick-kilns, slums and areas having migratory population.

He said the department had set up 1076 booths in the district including 592 in rural and 484 in urban areas, constituted 81 mobile teams, 209 supervisory teams, 23 transit teams and others during the three-day drive.

DIO said officers from health, education departments, Asha workers, panchayats' members, representatives of non-governmental organizations took part in the campaign.
