Over 28 kg narcotics seized in Haryana, 9 held

Chandigarh, Jul 10 (UNI) Haryana police have arrested nine people under NDPS Act on the charges of possessing more than 28 kg narcotics substance including heroin, charas, opium and chura post from different districts in the state.
Giving this information here Wednesday, a police department spokesman said police teams on the basis of secret information from informers and intelligence inputs have seized 28 kg chura post from the possession of an accused in Karnal district, 500 gram charas from another accused in Panipat, 40 gram heroin from two in Sirsa and 38 gram heroin, 45 gram opium and Rs 8000 cash from five accused in Fatehabad district.
He said cases under the provisions of NDPS Act were registered against them. Further investigation is underway.
In addition, police have arrested two people from Sirsa on the charges of betting on World Cup cricket match between India and New Zealand. Police have also recovered one LED, Set up box, five mobile phones and Rs 7,300 cash from them.
