Over 2.26 crore votes polled in GP elections in AP

Vijayawada, Feb 22 (UNI) The Gram Panchayat elections were conducted successfully in four phases in Andhra Pradesh and 2,26,67,604 voters cast their votes in the elections.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, State Election Commissioner (SEC) N Ramesh Kumar said that out of 2,77,17,784 total voters, 2,26,67,604 voters cast their votes in the GP elections and the poll percentage was 81.78.
The SEC said that the GP elections were held in four phases in AP on February 9, 13, 17 and 21 to elect 13,097 village sarpanches of which 2,197 Sarpanches were elected unanimously. Out of 1,31,023 ward members, 47,459 ward members were elected unanimously.
