Over 150 kgs of charas, other poppy straw recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 6 (UNI) Over 150 kgs of raw and fine quality charas besides poppy straw and bhung were recovered in the Kashmir Valley, a police spokesman said here Friday evening.

He said continuing its drive against drug menace, police recovered huge quantity of cannabis plants (raw material of charas) kept for drying by the drug peddlers in the Kashmir valley.

He said 26.9 Kgs of raw material of charas have been recovered from the house of Ghulam Rasool Reshi at Kakapora in Pulwama while four Kgs of Charas powder have been recovered from the house of Abdul Hamid Mir at Dogam Kakapora.

He said another 16.6 Kgs of cannabis leaves were recovered from the house of Nissar Ahmad Reshi and two kg of charas have been recovered from the house of Mohammad Sultan in Pulwama.

Spokesman said on Friday 122 Kgs of cannabis powder and 7 Kgs Poppy straw have been seized by special squad during search operation at four places in villages Patipora.

He said that from last one month the special squad of Pulwama police teams conducted dozens of raids in villages in District Pulwama and recovered 712.5 Kgs of narcotic substance.

He said 26 cases have been registered against drug peddlers. One auto has been seized and some notorious smugglers have been put behind the bars.
