Lucknow, Mar 3 (UNI) Reiterating the theme of the state's budget 2021-22 as empowerment with self-reliance, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that in the last four years, new Uttar Pradesh of new India has emerged.
Four years ago, the state which was dubbed as BIMARU in the country, despite being the largest state in India, was at the 5th position on the scale of the economy.
"Now look at the progress. The state had the GDP of Rs 10.90 lakh crore in 2015-16 and now, it has emerged as the second-ranked economy in the country with a GDP of Rs 21.73 lakh crore today while it is all set to become number one economy in five years . The state is the same but the thinking is new, the resources are the same, the work culture has changed," he said while speaking in the state assembly on the budgetary proposals for the financial year 21-22 on Wednesday.
