Oulgret Muncipality Employees went on strike, demands action against Ex-Minister

Puducherry, Nov 8 (UNI) Works at the Oulgret Municipality here came to a standstill On Thursday as the employees resorted to a flash strike to press their demand.

They were demanding immediate action against former Minister Kalyanasundaram and his supporters who allegedly threatened Oulgret Municipal Commissioner Kandasamy in his office on Wednesday.

It may be noted that Mr Kalyanasundaram and two of his supporters came to the office of the Commissioner to have a discussion with him. During the course of discussion, the supporters accompanying Kalyanasundram got furious and reportedly abused Kandasamy using filthy language.
It was alleged that police failed to take any action even after Kandasamy lodged a complaint and seeking police protection.

Since, police failed to provide protection to the residence of Kandasamy, a few employees of Oulgret Municipality gathered near the residence of Kandasamy at Raibow Nagar and resorted to a road blockade.
Police held talks with them and assured to initiate proper action following which they called off their stir.

In this backdrop, the employees resorted to a strike.
Talks are on with them to persuade to resume work.
