New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) Reacting to the BJP pulling out from the coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the 'opportunistic' BJP-PDP alliance set fire to Jammu and Kashmir and 'destroyed years of UPA’s hard work'.
'The opportunistic BJP-PDP alliance set fire to J&K, killing many innocent people including our brave soldiers. It cost India strategically & destroyed years of UPA’s hard work. The damage will continue under President’s (Governor's) rule. Incompetence, arrogance & hatred always fails,' Rahul said in a tweet.
The Congress earlier said the BJP could not run away from its responsibility for the present situation in Jammu and Kashmir and held the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre as squarely responsible for destroying peace in the valley.
The BJP on Tuesday announced pulling out of the PDP-BJP alliance government in the militancy-hit Jammu and Kashmir state.
"It has become untenable for BJP to continue in the Jammu and Kashmir government," BJP general secretary Ram Madhav told reporters here.
The decision was taken after BJP chief Amit Shah held detailed discussions with key party leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ministers from Jammu and Kashmir.
"Aaj jo paristhii nirman hui hai terrorism, violence aur radicalism badd gaya hae (In today's situation, radicalism, terror and violence have increased)," Mr Madhav said.
