Oppn leader Fadnavis takes swipe at Maha Govt

Thane, Jul 4 (UNI) Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday took a swipe at the Shiv Sena-led MVA government in the state saying there was no coordination between the three constituent parties, the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues and among the ministers.
Talking to newsmen during his visit to Navi Mumbai to take stock of the corona situation and the measures taken to curb the spread there, he said that at this time of pandemic, what was expected was a wider thought and collective wisdom, where the constituents of Maha Vikas Aghadi -- Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP -- should rally behind the Chief Minister leave aside their internal differences.
There should be a co-ordinated effort, a well-planned strategy and a single command system at such a time but unfortunately, it is not visible among them, he pointed and said that he has been from day one saying that there was no coordination in this government at all.
The former chief minister further said that after taking stock of the pandemic in Navi Mumbai, he has realised that in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region there is a mismatch of the rising corona cases and the available health infrastructure to meet the crisis.
The government should plan for the medical facilities till August end, he suggested.
Expressing serious concern about the medical treatment being beyond the reach of the common man at the private hospitals, Mr Fadnavis said that they should be accommodated at the government care centres and hospitals.
While replying to a query on the purchase of new cars and works being carried out by the MLAs, he said that the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister should take a strong strategy.
Asked about the frequent meetings between NCP chief Sharad Pawar and the Chief Minister, the BJP leader said that there was nothing wrong with it.
Senior leaders, like Mr Pawar, meet the leaders and give their advice which are useful in running the show, he said and recounted that during his tenure also, the NCP chief had met him and given him workable suggestions.
On the assistance to be given to the sugar mills, he said that norms should be prepared for the provision of the assistance and expressed that the companies should not be helped selectively.
He further said that he had already taken up this issue with the central ministers and wanted the central and state governments to give a helping hand to the sugar mills.
On en masse transfers of the Municipal commissioners in the MMR, the former chief minister said that this was unwarranted, as it sent out a wrong signal by putting the blame on them.
The government can take action on the non-performer but en masse transfer was not a good sign, he added.
