Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) Haryana Joint Electoral Officer, Dr. Inder Jeet said that only the voter whose name is there in the voters’ list could exercise his franchise. It is mandatory for the voter to keep his vote confidential in the polling booth. He said that it is also the moral responsibility of the voter to maintain the secrecy of his vote in the polling station. He said that if a voter's name is in the voter list but he does not have an EPIC card, then he can cast his vote by showing 11 alternative identity proofs as specified by the Commission.
Sharing more information in this regard, Dr. Inder Jeet said that even if the voter has an old Epic card, he can cast his vote, provided that his name should be in the voter list of that region. He further said that if the name of any voter is not in the voters list and he shows his Aadhaar Card or any other identity card at the polling booth, then he will not be allowed to cast his vote. He said that only those voters will be allowed to vote, whose name is listed in the voter list of that region.
He said that 11 alternative photo identification documents issued by the Commission include Passport, Driving License, Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central, State Govt, PSUs or Public Limited Companies, Passbooks with photograph issued by Bank or Post Office, PAN Card, Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA Job Card, Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, Pension document with photograph, Official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Adhaar Card.
