Only one-way traffic on Leh, Kashmir highways, Mughal road shut

Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) Only one-way traffic will ply on Srinagar-Jammu and national highway, connecting Union Territory (UT) Ladakh with Kashmir valley on Tuesday while the historic 86-km-long Mughal road remained closed for the past nine days due to accumulation of snow and slippery road condition.
The authorities had to use salt and urea to melt the frozen road at several places, including Zojila pass, Zero point, Meenmarg and India Gate before allowing traffic on the Srinagar-Leh national highway, a traffic police official told UNI on Tuesday.
Today traffic will ply from Srinagar to Ladah only, he said adding Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will have leave Sonamarg between 1100 hrs and 1400 hrs followed by Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs). However, no vehicle will be allowed after cut off timing, he said adding security force vehicles will have to follow same schedule. No vehicle will be allowed from opposite direction, he said.
