One needn't panic over detection of AY 4.2 delta variant: TAC Chairman

Bengaluru, Oct 28 (UNI) Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Chairman Dr MK Sudarshan Thursday said there is nothing to panic over the detection of 17 cases of AY 4.2 delta variant of Covid-19 in Karnataka.
"The average test positivity rate across all age groups in the state has been around 0.3 per cent at present. For schoolchildren it is at 0.13 per cent. Therefore, there was nothing to panic and parents sending children to school should not be scared," he said.
Dr Sudarshan said a comprehensive discussion on the pandemic situation will be held in the next TAC meeting with Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar. He, however, did not confirm the date of the meeting.
