Shillong, Aug 8 (UNI) With the death of one more person due to Covid in Meghalaya, the total number of deaths in the state rose to six , while 17 new cases were detected taking the overall active cases to 594 as on Saturday, health officials said.
Health and Family Welfare Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek confirmed that a 45-year-old patient Pankaj Bhusal, with chronic kidney complications, who had also tested positive for COVID-19, died at the North East Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital on Friday.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said that the death was due to COVID pneumonia and the deceased was also suffering from diabetes Type II.
