Odisha to conduct survey of orphan children

Bhubaneswar, Sep 18 (UNI) Women & Child Development Department and Mission Shakti will conduct a joint survey of orphan children across Odisha.
The survey will assess the number of orphan children and children of single parent living in the state.
The mapping of the orphan children is being done to bring them to the protective network of the society through intervention of the government.
Official sources here said the Survey will be made district wise by the Anganwadi workers.
The District functionaries like District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and Designated Child Protection Officer (DCPO) would be entrusted to supervise the survey process.
The consolidated data would be sent to the Department by October 5 next after the approval of Collectors of concerned Districts.
Women &Child Development and Misson Shakti Department have issued necessary request letter to all District Collectors in this regard.
Women and Child Development department and Mission Shakti are implementing Biju Sishu Surkhya Yojana, running Child Care Institutions, creating awareness against Child marriage and encouraging couples for adoption of children.
