Odisha man gets lifer for killing 11-yr-old boy

Bhubaneswar, Dec 16 (UNI) The District & Sessions court at Padampur in Odisha’s Bargarh district sentenced a man to undergo life imprisonment for committing the murder of an 11-year-old boy about three-and-a-half-year back.
The convict Rastra Barik, a resident of Kendmundi village under Sohela police station limits, was found guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sentenced to Rigorous Imprisonment for life with a fine of Rs 25,000, in default of payment, the convict shall undergo additional Rigorous Imprisonment for six months.
According to case records, on 26 June, 2022, the deceased Rikesh Biswal (aged about 11 years) was playing on the village road when the accused assaulted him. The victim sustained grievous injuries and was immediately shifted to VIMSAR, Burla for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
