Odisha govt. bans Bol Bom devotees to offer water at Shiva temples

Bhubaneswar, Jul 4 (UNI) The Odisha government today banned the Bol Bom devotees to offer water at the Shiva temples across the state with immediate effect.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Kumar Jena said this year the Kaudias, popularly called Bol Bom devotees will not be allowed to carry water and walk to Shiva temples to offer the holy water on all Mondays of the Shravan month.
He said in Odia month of Shravan, lakhs of people from various parts of the state carry holy water from rivers and walk barefoot for several miles in large groups and offer water in various Shiva temples on each Monday of this month.
