Odisha caste row over Dailt Anganwadi helper engagement resolved, claims administration

Bhubaneshwar, Feb 14 (UNI) Days after an unsavory caste conflict reared its ugly head in a village in Odisha’s Kendrapara district over the engagement of a Dailt women at the Anganwadi centre, authorities on Saturday claimed to have resolved the simmering issue with parents and guardians unanimously consenting to send their children to the pre-learning centre.
It may be recalled here that in apparent fallout of caste-related issue, upper caste parents stopped sending their wards to the pre-learning Centre in Nuagaon village under Ghalimala gram panchayat under Rajnagar police station jurisdiction for nearly three months protesting against the engagement of a Dalit woman as a helper.
As the Centre remains shut for all practical purposes, the district administration had earlier initiated steps to amicably settle the ongoing dispute by deputing a high-level team to the caste-conflict-bound village. But it was of no avail.
