Odisha cabinet extends WSIDP scheme for 5 years at an estimated cost of Rs.9652.24 cr

Bhubaneswar, Nov 13 (UNI) The Odisha Cabinet Chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday approved the extension of Water Sector Infrastructure Development Programme(WSIDP) scheme for a period of five years from 2024-2025 to 2028-29 with an estimated cost of Rs.9652.24 crore.
The WSIDP scheme was implemented by the state government with the objectives of expeditious completion of ongoing irrigation projects not having any tied up funding, grounding of new irrigation projects, undertaking surveys, investigation and take up projects to advance stage of construction for availing central government funding like PMKSY by completing pre projects activities and preparing shelf of projects.
Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said under the scheme ,an additional ayacut of 158318 hectares will be created and 6435 hectares will be stabilized, which will accelerate the pace of irrigation development in the state.
