Odisha: Activists seek security, advanced treatment for ‘traumatized’ woman Sarpanch Chameli Ojha

Bhubaneswar, June 14 (UNI) Prominent social activists and leaders of people's movements have demanded immediate advanced medical treatment, adequate security and a high-level impartial inquiry into the alleged assault on Tikiri Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Chameli Ojha of Kendrapara district.
In a joint statement, the activists expressed deep concern over the incident and alleged that the elected woman representative had become a victim of administrative and political vendetta for raising her voice against corruption and irregularities.
A delegation led by Dr. Biswajit, State Coordinator of the Gandhi Peace Foundation, visited Ojha at the Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital. According to the statement, the sarpanch expressed concerns about her safety and sought relocation to a secure place, claiming she felt threatened by the presence and influence of police personnel and others allegedly involved in the incident.
