Odisha: 31-yr-old arrested for attempting to rape elderly widow

Kendrapada, Nov 3 (UNI) The Rajkanika police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly attempting to rape a septuagenarian widow at Manpur village under Rajkanika police station on Diwali night, police said on Sunday.
According to police, while the widow was sleeping at her house on Diwali night, one Tikam Mallick, a neighbour, trespassed into her house and finding her alone attempted to rape her after outraging the modesty of the victim.
The Rajkanika police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after the daughter-in-law of the victim lodged an FIR (first information report).
