OAS officer caught accepting Rs 25,000 bribe

Bhubaneswar, Oct 8 (UNI) Odisha Vigilance officials today apprehended Banamali Satpathy, Executive Officer of Bellaguntha NAC, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from a staff member in exchange for relieving him after transfer and releasing his arrear salary and Last Pay Certificate (LPC).
According to Vigilance sources, Satpathy, an Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officer, had demanded Rs. 25,000 to process the pending arrear salary and forward the LPC of the complainant.
Due to the officer’s demand, the employee was unable to draw his salary at the new place of posting and subsequently reported the matter to Vigilance authorities.
